Growing up a gardener’s daughter in the North-woods of Wisconsin prepped me well for gardening myself in Alaska and now here in SE Idaho. Zones 3-5ish is what I know best, so if you live in the tropics, this probably isn’t the best fit! But if you’re in the Midwest, Canada or Pacific Northwest, I can help answer beginner/intermediate questions quite easily. I’ve also been saving all sorts of seeds since 2004 and that you can do anywhere!
What this consultation can do for the backyard, home-gardener, community garden member is: help the beginning gardener get going with tips, timelines and expectations; assist the new or seasoned grower transition to organic methods, and suggest medicinal plants, veggies, herbs, flowers and growing methods for your region and personal garden niche. Just like humans, some plants like a lotta light and some like dappled shade, some like to be coddled and cared for, others want to be left the heck alone. I’ve worked with a lot of these plant beings throughout the years and would love to share my insights with you in order to help your garden look amazing!
I worked as the garden manager for Jewell Gardens, an organic show & production garden, for eight years and served other roles (including CSA director) for four. Since 2003 I’ve tended home gardens wherever I’ve lived in Alaska and currently am revamping my lawn into gardens in SE Idaho. As a co-director of the Community Garden in Skagway from 2005-2020, I’ve watched the interest in gardening ebb and flow over the years and I’m truly hoping we have a resurgence, as the land needs us to tend and care for her, and gardening is truly a loving act for our Earth if done well.

*Life happens. If you need to change an appointment last minute I am happy to oblige within reason. If, however you’re a no-show at your scheduled time and have not communicated with me, you will be charged for that appointment.
